Our project is a website which has been created in order to tackle problems based around Covid-19. It is aimed at people who are high risk during this time so they can get a little extra help during this time.
Global Challenge 3: Good Health & Well-Being
Due to recent happenings, we thought that it would only make sense to try to do something to help during this time of uncertainty. Covid-19 has forced many people into complete lockdown and isolation because it would simply be too much of a high risk for them to go out to do the basic necessities like shopping and collecting prescriptions etc. Our project is a non-profit service that allows people to ask for help and others to volunteer to give help. Many people have been furloughed, have lost hours or pay or been laid off of work during this period of time, meaning that people can barely afford to live. This is why we decided to create Skyline Deliveries. Of course, there are already services that can offer non-contact delivery however during this time not everyone can afford to be continuously ordering food which is where we come in handy. In our initial research we found that Covid-19 is more likely to affect elderly people and further researched showed that over 30% of people aged 65 and older live alone, meaning that there is no one who is there to help them at this time. We think that Skyline Deliveries has helped to tackle problems which arose as a result of Covid-19 because it provides a simple and easy way to help those in need at this time and those who cannot go out.
